Prototype

View Details

Prototyping gets ideas out of your head and into the world. A prototype can be anything that takes a physical form—a poster or video that seeks to change policies/practices, a play, or a 3D object. In early stages, make simple prototypes to learn quickly and explore possibilities.

Design and draft a prototype to understand if your idea can work and to best explain to others what your solution is seeking to accomplish.

From the IDEATE step, you have determined what you will design and create to address your CARP topic. Now you need to draft it out. What does a draft prototype look like? Well, it depends what type of solution you have chosen and how you wish to best test it out to see if it will be successful.

For 3D prototyping, there are a number of tools and resources to help create your model or object. Check out the schedule for where and when you can learn how to use and work with the following tools:

Age: 0 - 25+

Step
1
Complete the SINGLE Activity: Prototype - P.1 Draft Prototype

P.1 Draft Prototype

Create a sketch or a draft outline for your solution.

Step
2
Complete ONE Activity: Prototype Challenge Set

P.2 Identify the Key Variables

Identify the key success characteristics (variables) for your prototype to be successful.

P.3 Feedback Capture Matrix

Using a graphic organizer, seek feedback from your teacher and other groups on your prototype to revise, edit, and re-do.

P.4 Finalize Prototype

Using feedback from others (including experts), refine your 3D model or outline to create a final prototype version of your solution (before testing).
