Prototyping gets ideas out of your head and into the world. A prototype can be anything that takes a physical form—a poster or video that seeks to change policies/practices, a play, or a 3D object. In early stages, make simple prototypes to learn quickly and explore possibilities.

Design and draft a prototype to understand if your idea can work and to best explain to others what your solution is seeking to accomplish.

From the IDEATE step, you have determined what you will design and create to address your CARP topic. Now you need to draft it out. What does a draft prototype look like? Well, it depends what type of solution you have chosen and how you wish to best test it out to see if it will be successful.

For 3D prototyping, there are a number of tools and resources to help create your model or object. Check out the schedule for where and when you can learn how to use and work with the following tools:

Once you have your Prototype draft finished, it’s time to get some good feedback. What do others say? Their perspective can help improve your prototype, your solution and/or your message? Use the Feedback Capture Tool as a graphic organizer to get that feedback!
