Prototype

View Details

Prototyping gets ideas out of your head and into the world. A prototype can be anything that takes a physical form—a poster or video that seeks to change policies/practices, a play, or a 3D object. In early stages, make simple prototypes to learn quickly and explore possibilities.

Design and draft a prototype to understand if your idea can work and to best explain to others what your solution is seeking to accomplish.

From the IDEATE step, you have determined what you will design and create to address your CARP topic. Now you need to draft it out. What does a draft prototype look like? Well, it depends what type of solution you have chosen and how you wish to best test it out to see if it will be successful.

For 3D prototyping, there are a number of tools and resources to help create your model or object. Check out the schedule for where and when you can learn how to use and work with the following tools:

P.2 IDENTIFY THE KEY VARIABLES INTRODUCTION

What is it that your solution is supposed to do or achieve? How can you measure its “performance” to determine success? If the solution is to change behaviors, you need to measure that to see if it really will change behaviors enough to make a difference. If the solution will reduce CO2 use, by how much? How will you know?

Here are some variable ideas that you might consider (there are many many possibilities):
